Elio Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 23, 2026 · Version: 1.1 · Entity: The Elio Company LLC (“Elio,” “we”)
Who this is for
This is our consumer health data privacy policy under Washington's My Health My Data Act. It covers the voice recording we collect and the measurements we derive from it.
This policy applies to Washington residents and to anyone whose consumer health data is collected in Washington.
What we collect, why, and for how long
| Data | What it is | Why we collect it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voice recording | Your read of a six-line script — typically 15–60 seconds, capped at five minutes per take (uncompressed audio) | It is the source the voice-identity profile is derived from, and it has no other use | Deleted within 24 hours of recording — whether or not processing completes; the deletion is logged |
| Voice-identity profile | A set of numerical measurements derived from the recording: pitch, pitch variability, and loudness contour | It is used to generate your dog's daily audio | Destroyed within five days after the household's subscription ends (by cancellation or lapse), when the voice is removed, or when the account is deleted, whichever comes first. A profile from a signup that is never completed is deleted within 24 hours |
| Summary values | Four numbers held on each voice's database record: the recording's mean pitch, a pitch-variability percentage, the proportion of the recording in which a voice was present, and the length analyzed | So the service can tell that a usable voice was recorded | The same schedule as the profile; they are destroyed with it |
Beyond the recording and the measurements above, we collect nothing else the Act treats as consumer health data: no condition, diagnosis, symptom, treatment or medication; no genetic, biometric-for-identification, or reproductive data; nothing about health services you have sought or received; and no precise location. We do not analyze a voice for health or mood, and we make no inference about your health.
Where it comes from
There are two sources, and both are the person themselves. You give us your own recording, in the recorder, after consenting at that step. An adult you invite to your household gives us theirs, in the same recorder, under their own separate consent — it reaches us from them, not from you. We do not buy consumer health data, and we do not receive it from data brokers, advertising networks, or public sources.
Who receives it
We share consumer health data only with service providers who process it on our behalf and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes: our hosting, storage and email providers. Our payment provider does not receive voice data.
Elio has no affiliates. We do not sell consumer health data. We do not share it for advertising, and no advertising network or analytics provider receives voice data.
Your rights, and how to use them
You have the right to confirm whether we hold consumer health data about you and to access it, together with a list of every third party we have shared it with. You have the right to withdraw your consent to our collection and sharing of it. You have the right to have it deleted, including by anyone we shared it with. Copies in backup systems are deleted when the backup expires, within six months.
You may use any of these routes:
- Access and export: the Privacy section of your Lounge, which sends the summary values; the profile itself is provided on request by email.
- Deletion: the Privacy section of your Lounge deletes your account and the consumer health data under it. The Voices section removes a single voice — which is also how you withdraw your consent for that voice.
- Or email privacy@elio.pet and ask.
We confirm who you are before we act, and we answer within 45 days. If we need longer, we will tell you why within those 45 days and take no more than a further 45.
If we say no
If we decline a request, we will tell you why and you may appeal. To appeal, reply to our decision or write to privacy@elio.pet with “Appeal” in the subject line. We answer within 45 days with our decision and the reasons for it.
Effective date and changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. We will not collect, use or share consumer health data in a category or for a purpose this policy does not disclose without first disclosing that category or purpose and obtaining your consent.

The rest of what we hold, and how it is protected, is described in our Privacy Policy and our Biometric Data Retention and Destruction Policy.
